1. Information We Collect

  • No account, no personal information. Tonight has no sign-in. We do not ask for your name, email address, or any other personal detail, and we have no server that stores anything about you.
  • Local data: Your watchlist, your custom lists, what you have marked as watched, your recent searches, and any release reminders you set stay entirely on your device. They are not uploaded to us or to anyone else.
  • Cached artwork: Posters and images for titles you browse or save are stored on your device so the app works offline and loads quickly.
  • We do not collect analytics, IP addresses, device identifiers, advertising identifiers, or any other personal information, and we do not use tracking or advertising SDKs.

2. Third-Party Services

Tonight is a browser for film and television information, so it has to ask other services for that information. This is the only data that leaves your device:

  • The Movie Database (TMDB). When you browse, search, or open a title, the app requests that information from the TMDB API and downloads artwork from TMDB's image servers. Those requests contain what you searched for or which title you opened, and — as with any internet request — your device's IP address is visible to TMDB. We do not send TMDB your identity, because we do not have it. TMDB's handling of these requests is governed by their own privacy policy at themoviedb.org.
  • YouTube. Trailers play in an embedded YouTube player. Loading a trailer contacts Google's servers, which may set cookies and receive your IP address under Google's own privacy policy. No trailer is loaded until you choose to play one.

We have no commercial relationship with these services that involves your data, and we receive nothing back from them about you.

3. How We Use Your Information

There is no personal information to use. What is stored on your device exists solely to show you your own watchlist and to make the app work — it is never sold, shared, or used for marketing, because it never reaches us in the first place.

4. Data Storage & Security

Everything Tonight saves lives on your device and is protected by your device's own security. There is no cloud account, no synchronisation, and no backup held by us.

Two consequences worth stating plainly:

  • Deleting the app deletes your watchlist and everything in it. We cannot restore it, because we never had a copy.
  • Your watchlist does not follow you to a new device.

5. Notifications

If you set a release reminder, it is scheduled as a local notification on your device by iOS. Nothing is sent to a server, and no reminder you set is visible to us. You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings.

6. Children's Privacy

Tonight is not directed at children. It displays information about films and television programmes supplied by TMDB, which can include mature themes, and its age rating reflects that. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age.

7. Your Rights

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, or delete on request. You remain in full control of everything the app stores: clearing your watchlist or deleting the app removes it. We comply with applicable global privacy laws, including GDPR and other regional data protections.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app changes — for example, if we ever add cloud sync or accounts, which Tonight does not have today. The updated version will always be available on our website.
